TIME: FIRST 30 MINUTES OF YOUR USUAL CLASS (Exception: Group 1 time = 2.30pm)

VENUE: USUAL CLASS VENUE (Exception: Group 1 venue = ND31/105)

TYPE OF ASSESSMENT: Short answer / written – no computers used

WHAT TO BRING for the assessment:

· Assessment is based on work in Lectures 1-3

· Homework tasks review the content covered

· Review tasks at the end of lectures review the content covered

· Study tasks on the Blog uploaded Aug 15^th review the content

EP004 - Study Tasks for Assessment One

1. List all the places/sources we have looked for information in activities (including “The amazing Race”) for Lectures 1 -3.

2. Analyse these topics: (Identify the 3 parts of the topic)

a. Explain how study skills can help students achieve in Higher Education.

b. “All live meat export should be banned”. Do you agree with this statement? Provide evidence to support your argument.

c. Analyse the arguments provided by political parties on carbon taxes in Australia.

3. Find alternative keywords for “media” and make note of the strategies you used.

4. Make yourself a checklist to evaluate a website and test it on the following websites:
